At Milwaukee Dog Training Club, we offer a comprehensive range of dog training classes for dogs of all ages and skill levels. Our experienced instructors provide affordable, high-quality training to help you build a strong bond with your dog.

Class Requirements

All dogs must:

  • Be licensed
  • Have current rabies, distemper, and parvo vaccinations
  • Use proper training equipment (available for purchase at low cost)
  • Register in-person after passing an initial behavior assessment

Basic

Learn fundamental obedience skills and improve communication between you and your dog. The class covers essential commands like "sit," "stay," "come," and "heel." It also focuses on leash manners and common behavioral issues such as jumping up. The goal is to establish a positive relationship ensuring your companion is well-mannered. Suitable for dogs of all ages and breeds, this class provides a foundation for advanced training or specialty skills.

Beginner

Take your dog's training to the next level with our Beginners Class! This class builds on the foundational skills your dog has already mastered, introducing more advanced techniques to enhance their responsiveness, focus, and overall obedience.


In this class, you will:

  • Refine Basic Commands: Strengthen your dog’s understanding and execution of essential commands with increased reliability in more challenging environments.
  • Be Introduced to Off-Leash Heeling: Teach your dog to heel attentively at your side without a leash, fostering trust and control.
  • Master the Stand for Examination: Train your dog to stand confidently and calmly for inspection, a crucial skill for obedience trials or vet visits.


Whether your goal is competition, better manners, or just having fun, this course will set the foundation for future success!

Beginning Novice

Tailored for those interested in competitive obedience or refining basic skills in a structured format. This class builds on skills while introducing exercises required for the Beginner Novice class in obedience trials, such as controlled heeling on leash, sit/stand for exam, recall (coming when called), and stays. Dogs and handlers learn to work as a team to create an enjoyable learning experience while preparing for advanced levels or competitive events.

Advance Novice

Designed for dogs and handlers ready to refine and enhance their obedience skills with a focus on precision and reliability. This class prepares participants for competition-level obedience. Training includes off-leash heeling, formal recalls, stand-for-examination, longer sits and downs, and other advanced Novice-level exercises required for obedience trials. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, handler communication, and maintaining focus in a high-distraction environment. This class is ideal for those pursuing competitive goals or simply looking for a fun-filled outlet for their trained companion dog.

Open

Focused on handlers and dogs who have successfully completed Novice-level training and are ready to tackle the more advanced exercises required for Open-level obedience competitions. This class introduces and hones skills such as off-leash heeling, drop-on-recall, and retrieving dumbbells over a high jump and a broad jump. Emphasis is placed on precision, consistency, and building confidence in both dog and handler.

Utility

Perfect for dogs preparing for utility-level obedience trials or simply mastering advanced skills, this class emphasizes precision, consistency, and teamwork.

Key components of the class include:

  • Scent Discrimination: Teaching your dog to identify specific scents among a variety of options.
  • Directed Retrieves: Training dogs to retrieve designated items with accuracy.
  • Signals Exercise: Mastering non-verbal communication through hand signals.
  • Distance Control: Enhancing your dog's ability to respond to commands from a distance.
